LISA/CAO
BRIEF: Create a custom typeface and an accompanying product.
CHALLENGE: Creating a commercially viable typeface and then pairing it with a brand.
SOLUTION: Lisa is the custom typeface used in the logomark for skincare Clear As Oil (CAO). The CAO brand is built on the basis of deconstructing and disrupting the natural skincare field. Often products claim to be natural and clean but are far from it. CAO products are made from high-grade essential oils
and ingredients.
This sense of deconstruction is found throughout the secondary language and complemented by Lisa’s geometric forms. Instead of leaning into the typical natural aesthetic, CAO chooses playfulness. This is expressed through the photography, colour palette, and secondary language.
